Question about live axles

I took the axles out of my 99 ranger and put the axles out of a 94 ford explorer in. Ever since though my truck has been riding really rough and it wanders a bit, someone told me that it was because of these 'live axles'. I'm not sure if thats what they are really called but its the ones with no lock in hub its just always locked in and has the 32mm axle nut on it.
So my question is if its normal for these type of axles to ride rough?

You don't have 94 Explorer axles in your truck. 94s had TTB front suspension which is entirely different from the SLA front suspension your truck has and has no interchangable parts. Are you sure the axles didn't come from a 95 or newer Explorer?

Even a 95 Ex wouldn't have a live axle. It would have PVH.

EDIT: Not PVH, axle housing disconnect. Still not a live axle.

And no, the whole point of that design was to improve ride. It is not supposed to ride rough.

You didn't mix and match parts from a coil-spring suspension and a torsion bar setup, did you?

Did you maybe use the Explorer torsion bars?
