Question about heat in engine bay

What engine isn't hot when you open the hood after running it up to operating temp?

Well, sure, I guess I'm just used to smaller engines 2L or 3L. Larger engine produces more heat, I'd expect.
I understand heat from exhaust piping. I had a Fiesta with headers that could get red hot (built engine).
I've had lots of vehicles... just this seemed like a ton of heat otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up.
I'm going to accept it's normal for the vehicle absent seeing anything wrong with it.
Thanks.
