I have a D28 under my truck and It has a blown pig. If I lock it in 4x4 it wont move with the hubs locked it binds up. If I put it in 4x4 and dont lock the hubs the truck moves but the pic screeches and bangs the whole time. I can jack it up all the way around and it will spin the front wheels with no wieght on them so I know the axles are good. My thing Is I am trying to sell the truck and want to swap it out before I sell it. I need to know a general time frame it would take to just rip it apart and slap a new pig on it and put it back together I work on cars and trucks all the time but I never messed with these front rears. If its going to take me a day or 2 to get it done I dont really want to it and lose a potential sale. So pretty much how long should it take to start with the truck togeather pull the front rear apart and put it back togeather

I believe it took me 2-3 hours to swap a D28 pig the first time.

It's been a while so not exactly sure but definitely not a multi-day event.

Are you sure it's the differential?
To remove it, you start with taking wheel off and spindle off.
Look at them and make sure the wheel bearings are not your problem.
Could be they are gone and the weight of the truck jams the disc rotors into the calipers.

Good luck

Im positive its the pig Ive worked on cars for few years and this isnt my first time owning a lifted truck. I just never messed with the ttb setups. Ive already done all the measures of tracking the problem down. I was just wondering about how long it would take to strip it down and swap the pig out

dont mean to thread hi-jack, but how did u swap a d28 pig in 2-3 hours??
i gotta do a d28 swap this weekend and i took off 4 days to do it and rebuild the suspension!

if i can swap the pig in 2-3 hours that would be a real time saver lol

Air tools help :D

I remember it being pretty straightforward.

The only thing I remember being kind of a pain was the passenger side axle.

This is the correct way to remove a D28:
