question about building a snorkel

im trying to build a snorkel for my 83 ranger and ive looked all over but I haven't come across anyone doing it for the 2.8 L so I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice?

pull and mod one of the wiper access panels and run some dryer duct from the inlet of the air cleaner to the cowl.


i assume you have a center mount steele air cleaner housing like my 6.5 has or any typical old school carb application.

if you need more rise, exit the cowl and go up the pillar.


the setup pictured above is the last way i would do it for the type of four wheeling i like to do....... i would bust that all to hell in a ride or two but if your on wide open areas and just do mud its very very effective for that..


i go out of the top of the cowl to keep from ripping it off in tight situations...i lay mine over quite a bit...if you look at the fenders and bedsides its self explanatory why i go out the top.
