its slower than a warn or superwinch but half the price...
beats the smittybilt...

click on the link.. click on product details and look at the chart.

for me, no more than i'd use it... i think it'd work. i was gonna get a smitty but why not get this one? rates better right..

part of me still wants the xrc8000comp tho..
or just shell out for the warn (vr8000, maybe)

i've been thinking about getting the smitty xrc8 myself. this one is $5 cheaper and you still have to ship it. i can get the smitty from the local 4 wheel parts here and probably find a coupon to take in there too. like you, i'm not planning on having to use mine much, that's why it's not getting a warn or something similar. i dont think you'd go wrong with either

see post #20, it's from a rep at Quadratec

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to clear up the air about this concerning our winches. Our winch is manufactured in China but is not a rebadged product that'll you'll find elsewhere. There are other winches on the market made in this same facility, but we have taken the time and optioned for hardened internals, different gearing, and other extra options for the outside.

The chart in our magazine is a comparison chart. It does not reflect actual winch testing 1 on 1 with other manufacturers. It just there just to show what we have optioned (internally and externally) to make available to the customer versus another respected manufacturer. It also shows the basic information of each listed winch that is available on each of the manufacturer's websites.

We have been working on this winch for quite a while, buying different manufacturers and testing them out on various jeeps here at our headquarters. The product that is now available to you, is the final product that we decided to go with that met and exceeded our expectations compared to other brands that we've all owned over the years. It is not a competition winch, and we have designed and marketed this towards the recreational offroader.

Now that doesn't mean its of lesser quality, and it will last as long as you follow the proper winching guidelines. On top of it all, we offer a great warranty of 1 year electrical and limited lifetime mechanical. We are currently in the processing of filming and getting videos together of the winch operation under all types of conditions. Check out our YouTube channel for updates.

Thank you everyone!

-Joe

and for all we know, the factory that makes these in china could make the quadratec winch and the smitty

right...

and w/ smitty, i know in memphis 4 wheel parts you can buy a $50 warranty for it at the 4 wheel parts store and they can replace it w/ almost no questions asked at the store.. and not have to ship it in to have it fixed, or something like that. just ask at your local store!

if i get the money before april 20th i'm getting a smitty so i'll have a winch for the spring run at superlift offroad park.. the quad wont' be out till may-ish..

i'm waiting for a good deal, sale or coupon to 4wheel parts to coming along, then i'm gonna buy it.

the only thing about the smitty is that i dont see anything about a warranty on 4wheel parts website. maybe i just missed it. i'm gonna research it some more at work today

i need to get mine so i can build my front bumper though. i wanna tuck the winch in as much as possible.

i only found one code that you can use online, CC5OFF. it's only $15 off, but better than nothing. free shipping if you pick up in the store

yeah but i live in MS (no store in MS)... so free shipping but pay TN tax if i go pick it up in store... or i can ship it to my house and not pay taxes... i always try it both ways and see which one is cheaper!! lol

gotcha, the 4 wheels parts here is a half mile down the street from my work. i'll have to pay tax if i ship home or to the store

I've been considering a badland winch from harbor freight been hearing good things about them and 400 right now for a 12,000 lbs isn't bad at all...

I do know a few people who use them and they really like them. They have had no issues with the winches. But they have Rangers and Tacomas and no big rigs. I have a Smitty and a Warn. I like them both. The Warn winches are very expensive and if you can find a clean used one go for that. That is how I got the Warn. Somebody needed money to get their rig back on the trail and they sold it to me for a good price.
