i recently just realized that i have lost my lockout for my drivers side wheel hub in my 98 ranger, i just replaced the front cv axle because it was bouncing around in the wheel hub, so now i have to replace the wheel hub as well, my question is, do i have to buy a new retainer ring and snap ring and do i also have to buy new bearings or does all that stuff come with the new hub or lockout, and my final question is what are the exact steps in puttin it back together cause right now all there is is a front axle just layin in the wheel and everything else is gone out of it

I've never purchased a lockout, so I don't know if those parts come with it, but I doubt it. Those parts do not come with the hub. Bearings and hub are one piece, I believe. When you get a hub, make sure it has 4wheel ABS if that is on your truck.

The hub has 4 bolts to remove it, put the new one on the same way. If you have 4wh ABS, follow the wire to the plug (under the front headlight, I think), and reroute the new wire along the same path. Put the shaft in the hub when you put the hub on the truck, put the hub on, put the retainer on, put the lockout on.

i know this might be a little late but ive done 5 hubs on my 99 ranger in the past 2 years ( bad abs problems) but when you buy a new hub i would buy a new retaining ring bc if you dont have the right tools or arnt calm while doing it it will break. and i also got rid of the old vacume lockouts and replaced them with manule lock outs from rugged ridge. just make sure when you put them on that you pour a little oil in it and round the inside of it. also if yor ABS isnt messed up i would save it off the old hub. since just buying the ABS part of the hub is only $10 cheaper then the entire hub with the ABS with it just a little tip.
