putting pinstriping on the Ranger

i got some of that "cool" shadeshifter pinstriping and i want to put it on in place of the stock pinstriping because its in bad shape and its purple,grey,and dark blue.....on a green ranger i dont like it.

How do you take off the stock pinstriping, without leaving the adhesive behind, or harming the clearcoat underneath??

A. - Peel off pinstripe. Get some adhesive remover and get the adhesive wet. Rub the adhesive off with your thumb.

B. - Go to an automotive body and paint supply store and buy a pinstripe eraser. It mounts to a die grinder. * Do not push to hard or run in one place to long because it will get very hot and burn through/wear through the clear coat.*

Unless you put the new stripe over top of the old, you will still be able to 'see' where the old stripe was. The paint and clearcoat will be more glossy underneath of the old. I have even seen where we removed the old stripe, and re-clear coated and you could still faintly see where the old stripe was.

ive heard that using a hairdryer works too, to remove the pinstriping adheasive with heat. but i havent tryed it yet.

I would suggest a hairdryer!!

I did it on mine and it worked really well. My dad has used this method MANY times. Motorhome, Mustang, Samurai, everything.

Just peel up a very small piece without heat, then slowlyheat it up and pull. Don't heat the part that has already been removed, it will just break, only heat the part that is still stuck to the paint.


I removed my pinstriping and buffed the truck afterwards and unless you knew I took it off and looked REALLY close in a few spots, you wouln't notice that is was gone.
