Do purolator filters use an anti drainback valve?

I know purolator atleast did make motocraft filters....just curious cause im looking for an alternate to the stupidly priced FL1A's ive always ran.

They do. The standard Purolator or the Pure One is the equivelant to the Motorcraft one. The Boss filters have a better filter element in them.

None of them are bad filters.

The red cased one being the "standard" correct? i can get those for 6 bucks...vs 16 for an FL1A.

I miss the days of the $3 FL1A
So do i. It wasnt all that long ago either.

I scoffed when they went to 8. Last one i bought for rusty was 11....i need to change the oil in my 460 now they are up to 16. Screw that. They also seem very generic nowadays with just a motorcraft sticker on them.

They are made in china now too. Seems like up untill somewhat recently they were USA.

Which purolators come from china too...but im not paying 16 bucks for something a 6 year old in a sweatshop put togther for 20 cents

I read that the Supertech equivalent to the FL1A is pretty good and also inexpensive. I think I might start running those. I have a few ancient Conoco filters to burn through first.

They have changed colors recently. So I don't know. Plus the oil packages have been coming with either Mobile 1, in house filters, or K&N filters of late.

My old dealer has had a new owner since 4 months after I left in 2017. They have a new parts manager now and he apparently doesn't want my business since he quoted me $17.45 for an FL1A. He also doesn't stock the FL300 my Mustang runs so I checked Amazon- FL1A's were about $10 and FL300's were just over $6. I've heard that Advance and Carquest sell Motorcraft now, too. Purolator and Wix are both good, Fram is garbage- they have glass fiber in them.

Yeah I really miss the old FL1A days. I only run Wix anymore in the Ranger, but like the AC Delco golds for some other things. The Toyota only gets Toyota cartridges. It's worked for almost 350k so no sense changing now.

I think Carquest merged with Advance since they sell a good bit of Carquest stuff now. I can confirm that the do sell Motorcraft oil filters.

Yep, advance bought them 10 years ago. We have quite a few of both around here. I'll have to check them out for filters.

Everything is dumb now, I've ran the ST8A walmart filters for a while, they seem fine but I don't overthink it... I'll throw a Fram PH8A on too in a pinch on the 2.3L's... I try to stay away from Fram although I'm sure they've gotten better over the years but don't lose sleep over it...

Wix got sold out to Mann and Hummel about 2 years ago, they discontinued a lot of products that were good and the replacements aren't as good, just as a side note...

I miss the olden times when your chances of finding a good part on the shelf was at least over 50%, some things are getting better but many are getting worse... even buying dealer parts doesn't guarantee good parts anymore...

I just bought an Fl-1995 yesterday at Wally for the F250 and almost fainted. $27. I’ll admit my memory is not great but I want to say they were around $12 a few years ago when I bought the truck.

I see at with Napa gold filters or buy motorcraft in bulk.
I think napagolf is puralator anyway.

I don't think you're wrong, that's about what I remember... I still have a couple extra "in stock" so I'm set for a couple years on annual oil changes...
