The only way to know for sure is to get a Used Oil Analysis. It costs about the same as another oil change.

I got several on my old Sport Trac and got the best results with Pennzoil Platinum. I used that, changed every 5k, and the truck ran like new until 212k when it blew a head gasket. The timing chains were still fine and it didn't use any oil.

I've not gotten a UOA for the Ranger but I've mostly run Valvoline Synthetic based on what I read at BobIsTheOilGuy.com, apparently it has more moly in it so it runs quieter and is better with turbochargers and superchargers.

That's usually what I run. I haven't gotten UOA done on the 2019. I'm pretty sure I got one or two on the 2011. I have the containers. I either forget to get a sample until it's too late, I just have too many irons in the fire, or I'm pressed for time and don't get it done.

I haven't done either of the transmissions yet either but want to. I know they do all kinds of used oil analysis but I figure those are the most important ones to do.
