I'm looking at picking up another 4.0 SOHC for my sister's Explorer at picknpull. Besides the normal socket set, probably more metric than standard sockets what else should I take? Is it easier to pull the motor and trans from an Explorer or separate it in the car? Does the motor have lift brackets from the factory on it?

I'd rather buy one that's already pulled but not having any luck.

I split engine from transmission, so:

Long extensions (24") + universal & 13mm socket to undo transmission bolts.
14mm socket for the flexplate to torque converter.
I would get fan removal wrenches (not because I care about rad in picknpull, but because sooo much easier with the extra couple inches room)..
Fine screwdriver for removing all the electrical connectors (or pair of wire cutters).
?19mm? for engine mounts.
sawzall to remove exhaust pipes.

It's a little wordy but very thorough.

Exhaust manifolds are cast; I just chain to them.
