Only place I could find to ask. Pulling the carpet out of my 94 ranger with a floor shifter and I've heard that there is some kind of heat shield padding around the shifter and also was told that when it is removed that it makes the inside of the truck very hot , is this true and if so what are you replacing it with? The cab is being stripped out for a cage and the floor will be bed lined . This is a trail truck and is being stripped down to the bare minimum , no carpet ,no door panels ,no head liner . Hope someone on here has done this and can tell me if there is indeed a heat problem that I need to address. Thanks :icon_surprised::dntknw:

my thoughts...

remove it all and run it like you intend but keep the insulation pad in your garage/ shed/ ontop of the wife's dresser etc. see if it gets hotter than you would like inside the truck than you like, especially on a hot summer day. If it does get too warm, find a rubber mat from a base ranger (LMC truck maybe?) and put the pad back down with the rubber mat on top.

That's a good idea , I'll just have the old lady sleep on it :yahoo:. I will hold onto it if it's not to nasty underneath , it was a farm truck and is pretty nasty ( not sure how pretty and nasty can be in same sentence? ) But yes I'll hold onto it if I can. Thanks

Edit--- Pulled it and what a mess ,I think they used the truck for a barn, now I need to come up with a way to conceal the wiring with some kind of half round seeing that there won't be any kind of flooring cover ( only bed liner) .....

You can also consider using that silver pipe wrap insulation stuff as long as you keep it away from the exhaust system. It is very lightweight and designed to reflect the heat away...or retain it depending on how it is installed or for what purpose.

And as long as the boot is in place it should help to keep some of the heat out of the cab...

I took my carpet out 2 years ago when i swapped in a bw1354m. All i have done is por15 the floor. It is a little louder with tire noise. The cab doesnt get too hot for me here in cleveland. In the winter i just turn up the heat a little more:yahoo:
