I just jut my underdrive crankshaft pulley(and belt) what do you torque the bolts to on the pulley. Also the instal guide from stuff for your ranger isnt very helpful could someone go step by step on how to change the pulleys.
also i couldnt get the fan clutch removal tool to hold onto the back of the 4 bolts(there to short) someone suggested taking a pipe wrench and griping the waterpump pulley and then take an adjustable wrench(only one big enough) and then turn the nut.

also my work might be delayed because smashed my thumb in my door just before i began yesterday, i had it drained today to reduce the swelling.

any help would be appreciated

You can never go far wrong using the old wrench arc method.

Tighten with fingers and socket until snug.
Then use ratchet and tighten 1/6 to 1/3 turn past the point where a sharp rise in torque is felt. Sharp rise in torque is that snugger point after finger tight, using a tool. 1/6 turn is from twelve oclock to 2 oclock, not much.

With 10mm bolts, I use 1/4 drive ratchet, which avoids gorilla - torquing little threads.
I also use Loc-Tite on everything anymore (not O2 sensors, etc.)

ok i guess ill do that once i have time and my thumb stops bugging me. I really want to install this already. I finally got a breaker bar to help with the tensioner and the fan clutch.

I just installed it yesterday.(and can notice the power increase). last night when i came home i noticed that starting from idle when i first step on the gas my headlight will get brighter and then go back down(while my foot is still on the gas).

is this a charging problem

Yup. Did you get the overdrive alternator pulley?

no, other people said that they didnt have any charging problems without the overdrive altenator.

it wont hurt anything if you dont get it i kno friends who did this on a 90 mustang with the 5.0 and all it did was made the headlights dim and get brighter i dont see why it would hurt anything. but that is just me if i had already spent the money on all the other pulleys i would go ahead and get the alternator pulley i think it would get annoying to watch my headlights dim and get brighter

so now i feel dumb i should have looked at the 3.0 tech page
crankshaft pulley bolt should be torqued to 107 ft lb:iamwithstupid:
