Had to brake fairly hard this morning and my truck drifted to the left. I say drifted because there was no pull on the steering wheel. Could this be caused by the rear drums? Just looking for a starting point.

I would look at your slider pins on the front brakes first and make sure they are moving freely. If they are stiff or frozen, that is probably your problem. Also check your pad wear and see if they are wearing unevenly. That will also be an indicator that your pins aren't moving correctly. If everything looks ok up front, then I would start looking at the back. I might not hurt to take a look at them even if your front brakes turn out to be the problem.

Right. Both front and rear brakes can cause a vehicle to pull or drift one way or the other, but generally you want to start looking at the front and look at the rear if you find nothing.

Thanks. For some reason I always thought if the front pulled you'd feel it through the steering wheel. But I'll start up front.

Did it only pull that one time? Or has this become a recurring issue?

Can you describe the conditions when the issue started?

(Not trying to be difficult, but the more info we have, the better)

A sticky slider pin could be the problem.

If it pulled to the left then the problem is likely the right front brake.
