Well I pulled my codes tonight expecting just an o2 sensor code, but ended up with 2 others.

The first one i got was 33 I had never got a 2 digit code before so that confused me at first? I didn't mess up reading the codes did I?

KOEO
33 is EGR did not open/ respond during test

I also got

Memory
176 Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean Left or Front HO2S
211 Ignition PIP signal was erratic or missing - Ignition Systems

So with all these codes I'm trying to decide where to go next. I was hoping for some help from everyone here. I believe the rule of thumb is to test the KOEO codes first. So i guess what I'm asking is how do you test the egr/egr sensor? I have never messed with it before so lets start simple, but I am a fast learner. Thanks in advanced!

Your 33 is actually 1-1-1, 1-1-1. 111 pass code, repeated. You're good with the engine off. Move onto KOER codes and see what you get there. Hold off on memory codes until you sort out KOER (unless you get the FMEM code in KOER - don't remember what number that is).

Ok. I was thinking the 33 might be 111,111. Ill run KOER when it stops raining....

OK i got an all clear on the KOER.
176 is my front o2 sensor so looks like i will need to test and probably replace that.
211 is less straight forward....

IIRC, Front = Driver's side. You don't have a rear O2 on a '94, just a left and right bank sensor. Definitely get a voltmeter in there and see if it's switching. If not, it's a relatively inexpensive fix.

As for the 211 code - if you've got the time and it's easily accessible on a 3.0, pop the EDIS module out and take it to a parts store and let them test it. They should be able to do it for free.

Hmm Edis module? Isn't that electronic distributorless igntion system? I don't think i have one cause i have a distributor. Correct? Or do I have my acronym wrong. I tested my o2 sensor and it's bad :( The new one should be going in later tonight when I get more time.

Didn't realize the 3.0's still used a distributor in '94. 2.3's and 4.0's had switched over a few years before. I'll try to find the troubleshooting manual tonight or tomorrow. It will have '94 3.0 specific info.

Ok thanks. Yeah they had the distributor up till '94. I was thinking maybe the ignition coil? Not sure how to test it though and don't really have money to be throwing around.

You should be able to find the primary and secondary resistance specs for the coil online if you dig around a bit. Might even have them here at TRS posted somewhere.

Ok ill dig around. I got the new o2 put in. Went extremely smooth didn't even take 15 minutes I couldn't believe it. Almost to easy....

Anybody got info on testing the ignition coil? I can't seem to find what the resistance specs are supposed to be. :(
