Hello,
Could someone please point me in the write direction or a tutorial/write up on replacing the front rotors on my 1997 ford ranger xlt 2wd with just rear wheel ABS? Please and thanks in advance.
My main concern is the correct torque specs and the correct preload.

The preload for the spindle nut is something like 12 or 14 INCH pounds, everything else can use the German spec of güdentite. It would be a good idea to install new bearings&races while you're in there too... quality ones like Timken.

Are there any write up/tutorials on this forum that I can read?

There's gotta be a tutorial type article on it somewhere around here... when I get more than a few minutes ill try and find one.

Have you done much wrenching on vehicles before?

2005 specs (but as they used same spindle and bearings in '97 should be the same), tighten to 21 lb ft, loosen 1/2 turn, then 17in-lbs while turning the rotor.

Torque specs? Really? Tight enough that it doesn't wobble but loose enough that it spins freely.:ROFLMAO:
