I find it easiest to load my pictures to imgur. From the account section I get this:
Then I just click copy beside the BBcode option and paste it in the text box with the rest of my message.

I think you have to have a certain number of posts (10? 20?) for that to work...
Also when I started in forums image hosting on-site was a big deal. Obviously it's not a problem anymore.
