What is the proper backspacing to run on a 15X10 or 15X8 wheel with an explorer diff in a ranger?

I want little to no poke outside of the fender...

This is a drag truck by the way... 28X10.5 tires.

I'd say 4.5" to 4.75". The Explorer rear is 1.5" wider, so that's 0.75" more on each side.

I believe the stock backspacing on the 15x7's is 4.5". The 14" rims might be the same also.

Isn't a ranger 8.8/7.5 56.5" WMS to WMS and an Explorer 8.8 59.75"?

That would be over 3" wider, 1.5" per side or there abouts right?

Not sure on the exact... I was under the impression it was 1.5" total... I'll head out and measure both axles this morning
