- My credo
- Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Plan for it as best you can.
Because of my garage situation, I run two reflective kerosene heaters because they can be tucked in a corner and not worry about catching things on fire. The tanks last about 10-12 hours before they need refueled. They do a pretty good job considering the garage isn't insulated and isn't air tight. Those don't set off a CO detector.
I also have a couple small electric heaters mounted on the walls. Those have fans and move the air around the garage.
Now the propane torpedo heater I have, on the other hand, will set off the CO detector. But it is good for quickly heating up the space. Once the space is mostly warmed up, I'll shut off the torpedo heater and let the kerosene and electric heaters do the rest of the work.
I haven't tried any of the radiant propane heaters but I imagine most won't last as long as the kerosene heaters do.
