Project: Green Gorilla

This thread is for V8 specific performance upgrades. My other thread will remain up for maintenance and cosmetic upgrades.

So I saw my old Ranger the other day and now I want a V8 again. So here is the plan.

Cannibalize the ST
Motor/trans/transfer case/axles/torson bar setup
Rebuild the 1350 transfer case
6.5" travel coil overs
Swap wheels

I am going leaf under for ease of swap. I wonder if the Belltech 6400 shackles will be enough to level it out? Any insight would be great.

You have a V8 in the ST?

How are you going to use a 1350 t-case? How does either or your trucks have one now?

May have to play with pinion angle to use shackles to level the truck if running spring under.

Donor: 02 ST w/ 5.0/4R70W mated 1350 (SVT's old rig)

Adapter for the 1350? Odd it isn't at least a 1354.

Not exactly sure since he did the work.

Parts List:
Coilovers w/ 6.5" of travel (Need help sourcing these)
Axle flip kit
Rebuild kit for the 1350

So I have not updated this in a while. This project is still a go. Slight change of plans though.

Plan:
V8 swap
AWD
SAS

Alright time to give this a little update.

Phase 1: Drive train, rear axle upgrade, front brake swap and wheel/tire upgrade (putting the wheels/tires that are on the Trac on my Ranger)
This is going to happen while I am going vacation at the end of April. SVT is going to be doing the swap for me. This is pretty straight forward and is well documented so there is no need to talk about here.

Phase 2: SAS and re-gear

End game is to be able to pull a 31' camper behind the Ranger across multiple states, IN to FL.

Stay tuned for V8 fun shenanigans.

New project name: The Green Gorilla

16 days until the transplant begins. No I am not counting at all.

I am going with a oil location kit and external trans filter from ST.

in for pics, this will be a cool swap

So this happened. Have a few things left to do yet. The last one is of the wife and I on vacation down in Clearwater Beach, FL.

That is all.

Sent from the front seat of my Ranger.

Little update

The truck is about 90% complete. The upper controls, front brakes, shocks, plugs w/ 2 plug wires have all been changed. I have an exhaust leak but I think I know where that is. After that is fixed, it off to the exhaust shop for a side exit exhaust.
