Project Primer! NO 56K

Anybody have any advice on wiring in the 302?

This was the one thing of this swap I was not looking forward to figuring out but I knew I didn't want to go carb...

Send a pm to cheapthrillsb2, he knows how. He will be helping me with mine.

Thanks,

Not quite the advice I was looking for but I guess it's useful.. lol

Alright I have a question...

I have to shorten my rear driveshaft about 6 inches or so. Both the F150 and Ranger shafts are almost the same length right now. Which driveshaft would be better to shorten?

Also, which end should I shorten it from. The end by the axle or right before the slip area?

IMO I would shorten the one with a smaller diameter. I don't see any reason why one would be better than the other unless one has more splines or is in better shape than the other.

When I shorten mine I do the slip side so I can hold on the splined area and turn it in the lath so it fits inside of the tube. You can true it up on the truck too before you weld it.

yeah, that was my thoughts as well I am pretty sure the F150 has more splines on it and is a smaller diameter so it looks like I will use that one. Also, I think I could sell my ranger one a bit easier since it is a one piece shaft.

If I mess one up I have a spare just in case... ha...

well driveshafts made and installed...

list is down too

1) Wiring
2) Exhaust
3) Figure out a Fan
4) Oil filter relocation kit installed

And that should be about it...

Nope, there WILL be other stuff you want to do, and that you figure needs to be done (bigger tires, better rear ends, bigger engine, better transmission, doubler, better suspension, better radio, bigger speakers, better CB, and the list goes on). :icon_thumby:

O well.. i know that... I was just talking about this particular project... I understand that it will "never" be done until the day it is to beat up to move or replace parts... or sold

Been a while since I updated this...

Oil filter relocation kit has been installed..
Y-Pipe for the exhaust is done... should be able to use most of the original exhaust on the rest...
Still need a skinny e-fan...
Wiring... eh... have hardly looked at it... lol

I should of taken pictures of the Y-pipe when I made it... I plan on taking it back out to clean it up and to throw a layer of some high temp paint...

Nice build going.. Wiring sucks no matter what way you look at it. I just got done doing kinda the same thing but to a jeep. Took all the wires from the 150 and marked them all when we took them out. Kinda did the same on the jeep ripped most of the body harness out then got all the needed wires hooked into the jeep harness and went from there. It still took a lot of :icon_confused: to get it done. Im fixin to swap a 4.0 in place of my 2.9 got ALL the wires from the parts truck but the rear tail lights. That trans you got is one heavy pig! keep the pics coming ! :headbang:
