Project: Moose-Knuckle

**** that. Way too many man hours then I wanted to give, especially on my DD. If it were a pure project truck that would be cool but loading up junk yard shit in a station wagon is a bitch.

I got my new PS box from a 2wd 8 lug ford van. It needs some going over. It's pretty hard to turn cause of some muck. Oh well. Now it's just down to the tone ring, one shock hoop, and the ps box.

haha yea i hear ya. good luck on getting the rest of this worked out:icon_thumby:

Ballsack.

It snowed today. This is going to suck. Time to bust out the little propane heater and whiskey.

I got my leaf spring wedges yesterday, so the front end is commin undone again today. I'm hopin to pull the drive shaft and mount my new tone ring off the t-case flange, and bolt on my shock hoops. Oh, and yank off the old power steering box, mount the new one, fab a new column, and fab a new drag link. Fuckin a.

better make it 2 bottles of whiskey in case you get a stuck bolt. lol:beer:

We actually stayed warm cause Mickey D's was giving out free coffee. So me and a pal went through the drive through 4 times when we were taking a brake.

Got the leaf spring wedges in today. Bigger pain in the ass then I thought. Would have been easier to build the packs with the wedge the first time.

Rebuilt the new power steering box. there was just an issue with the worm gear that caused it to lock right in the middle. The box is going in tomorrow morning.

I'll be using 1 ton chevy TREs and 1.5" wide .250" wall DOM tube. Got prices at high country today. I'm going t see if just stock replacements from broncograveyard are cheaper.

I decided not to use my hoops cause they look like shit. So I'm just going to use a set of bronco shock towers and modify them to run a loop instead of an eyelet.

I need a beer

Drove my truck for a day it pulled to the right like hell. So got my truck aligned today, put in new TREs, and its strait as an arrow. damn now I have no excuse for driving through yards. Still slaving on that truck huh? Let me know if I can give you a hand.

the 8.8 runs smooth. and the new skyjacker springs and coils are starting to flex more. It ran like a rock at first.

I bet they did, Carl. I'm glad to see it's all workin out. And who doesn't love a little yard wheelin?

I got the box mounted in a great spot. The pitman arm is no where near the leaf pack, the steering column angle is nice and i'm not maxin out the CVs like I was with the bronco box. It took a lot of grinding to clean up the frame enough to get the box on. I still have a whole to drill but it should be on tomorrow.

The pitman arm that came with the van box has a pretty small bore for the drag link end. I think I'm going to have it machined out to fit the one tons if I can still afford them. It's going. Tomorrow's another work day.

adam you must of done something right. you have over 6THOUSAND views on this and 173 posts. i am happy to see you are going to have a sick trail rig. now lock that bitch!

Hahahah holy shit. 6thousand? I think the Jeep build had a bit more, and there was nothing but bullshit said between me and mitch about beer and work.

Right on!

I'm off to finish mounting the box and the steering column!

how did that all go?

Well it had some ups and some downs.

Got the box rebuilt and mounted. It turns like a dream. Got the new drag link fabbed up. Stout mouther fucker.

Turning the tires went perfect in the air. On it's own weight it bent the living **** out of my tie rod.

It was old and most likely bent before and bent back.

So now it's off to a new tie rod / drop pitman arm. I'm going to use some thick mother fuckin wall and new TREs.

I'm out of money. So ball sack.

Each day I cross a few things off the check list and a few more get added on.

The tie rod was booty fabbed together and gave at a weak link. Just all the force trying to turn 35x15" tires at a stop was too much for it.

Glad it did it in the drive way and not on the road.

I'll be using new TREs for the Dana44, 1/2" wall DOM, and the fun little taperd sleavy things.
