Project Molly the Mall Crawler

hmmm, bad bearings maybe? id pull the cover and check it out

the person who sold it to me said it has all new bearings and seals , and they looked brand new , and as i was driving it home a little while ago , the rumbling was followed by an even louder rumbling when i let off the gas

IS THERE VIBRATION ALONG WITH IT OR NO?

there is nop vibration , the way to best describe it is

acceleration : sound of large agressive tread tires against pavement

deceleration : sound of driving over rumble strips on side of highway

hmmmm,...... maybe you stripped something on the driveshaft and its grinding or skipping?

the only think i did with the drive shaft was unbolt it from the rear diff. , at first i thought it was my exhaust hitting the driveshaft , but i checked and it isnt. this did not start till after i got the new axle in , the old axle never did this , and it did not start till after i tried my 4x4

a little update , wqas followin a friend yesterday and a stone flew off his tire and hit my windshield , and cracked it , will post some pics shortly , good news is we have comp on my truck so it is covered , and even better news is the new windshield is gonna get a TRS banner

and on the axle , a guy at work told me he heard a ticking sound as i was going forward , it was either my exhaust or a u joint , will post pics of my driveshaft angle

well had a little issue today , the diff vent was clogged and it caused my axle seal to leak , which got oil on my brakes , which then started to chatter , limped it home , took the vent off , cleaned it , works like a charm now

no , but it made the 500 mile trip to where i am and has handled all the abusive driving i have done down here , so i am not worried

just picked up a BW1354M with shifter , linkage and boot for $100 , just now realized that i do not know if i have the necessary threaded holes on my transmission to bolt the linkage in , and i have to modify the driveshaft because this came from a TTB truck and mine is SLA , and i may be SOL because i just figured out it is a 1350 , not 1354

some pics from my dads place

from let to right , cousins girlfriends van , dads bravada , my ranger , dads 94 F-150

That sucks... and about the rumbling, did the last guy mess with the gears in the axle at all? I'm thinking improper backlash and contact pattern can cause growling... I think... I swore I paid attention in powertrains... Damn I'll have to double check the book but I'm pretty sure that could be it...

well i think so because it just bit the dust on the way home , i made it to within 5 miles of my house
