Project Little Green Turd

Went quad riding this weekend and got to play in some deep mud and water. Ill post a few videos later.

I got the fan installed on the Ranger today. I have to finish the wiring tomorrow. I had a hard time figuring out where I wanted to mount it. Ill post some pictures when it's done.

I got the fan installed and it works. I need to fine tune the set point, but I am very happy with it thus far. I can hear a little noise in the water pump now that the mechanical fan is gone. Maybe I'll replace the pump when I change the coolant before the winter.

I mounted the thermostat on the power distribution box and was able to use the contact supply for the WOT A/C relay for my power source.

Here are a few videos from the quad riding this past weekend. I got water in the belt drive on the last one :annoyed: but it dried out later that day :icon_thumby:

Well I have put 800 miles on the Ranger... averaging 23 mpg! I have a small oil leak around the T for the oil pressure gauge, a small leak on the rear brakes, and possibly a leaky axle seal. Not to bad so far. I am going to work on it a little bit more this weekend. I've been getting a lot of compliments on it at work which has been kinda nice :D

Our little family is going to grow again tomorrow. We are getting this little guy (although he is not so little now)

His name is Levi Jethro and he is a 5 month old German Shepherd Husky. We can't wait to go pick him up.

Have a great weekend! :icon_cheers:

I had a chance to look at the oil pressure gauge on the Ranger this weekend. I kinked the line feeding it into the cab and hence no pressure reading. I need to order more the polyethylene tube so I can install it correctly. I did test the gauge before I disconnected it and blocked the T. On start-up, I had 60psi at idle and around 80psi at 3000rpm. For 199,300 miles, I am pleased. I expected it to be a lot lower, so at least I have that piece of mind. :yahoo:

I am going to continue tinkering with it, but the new dog has taken quite a bit of time this last week. He is very scared of people and we are still trying to warm him up to us.

On another note, the F250 is due for inspection next month. I need to adjust the E-brake and put an exhaust on it. I am looking at a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler dumped out the side. Cherry bomb has flow ratings for their mufflers on their web site and the vortex had a very high flow rate, but is not nearly as loud as a glass pack. I may try to get an SPD y-pipe too, who knows.

Well I traded my F250 in. I traded it in on super clean low miles 2002 F250 Lariat 4x4 Crew Cab Long Bed. One owner truck with only tiny bit of surface rust underneath. Should be picking it up at the beginning of next week. It is getting the passenger side manifold and studs replaced and then rust proofed. I'll post a few pictures of it when it comes home next week :icon_cheers:

XL to Lariat eh? Thats adding a few luxuries lol

Gasser I assume?

Ya. Big difference inside. An XLT Crew Cab Short bed would've made me happy, but this one was too clean to pass up and it was priced right. Ya, 5.4L. I drove a 2004 6.0L and it was nice to drive, but I don't have a purpose for it other than novelty. I don't know a lot about diesel and I can definitely live without the high maintenance cost. If I was going to get one, I probably would've went with a 02 7.3L though.

Here are the dealer photos:

Edit: Not sure why it has an 05 on the windshield :icon_rofl:

That is quite the upgrade. Nice buy! I like the long bed part lol.

And yes, diesels are picky and are high maintenance.

It's only 30" longer than my current truck that can be tough to get in my driveway.... what could go wrong???

Ya. I'd like to have one, but I can't justify the cost with towing anything. And I drive my Ranger everyday because it is cheap on gas. Having a SD is almost a luxury with the exception of needing it for the ATV and now Nicole and I both have a backup vehicle with room for us, the dogs, and all our shit. I am sure your F350 is about the same way, but you have a trailer and a woods truck to haul around :icon_thumby:

BTW, I am still waiting for the Go-Pro video of you unloading trash off your Acura :icon_cheers:

Correction he HAD a woods truck. :thefinger: lol. That trucks looks nice and clean. Atleast now you don't have to fix all the rust that was on the silver truck.

LMAO, now he has that Jeep thing lol

I am sure you'll get to see it in the near future. If the ESOF gives me problems, I will probably be coming to you for a NV271. And it has a 3.73 gears and an open rear end... I may need to do something about that too. :D Other than that, I am so happy not to bother with rust repair. I will miss my 6 speed though...

Did you every put the Gear Vendors unit in your F350?
