Project Life Support.

I'm still going to do as much work to it as I can. Just not the way I was going to.

I was going to have the engine pulled and my new pan/gasket combo put on.
But now I'm going to buy some sheet metal and jb weld it on as seen on post #139.

I was going to buy a new filler neck or used tank and fix my gas leak.
But now I'm going to purchase some of that marine JB weld and do it up.

I'm still going to buy an axle. Only 60 bucks at the local JY. But now I can't get a stereo for my car. I just thought of that.. :(

Oh well. Maybe I'll look into getting another job.. one with better pay/hours. I wonder if Lowes is still hiring..

Picking up a new cap tomorrow, it's black and off a 1990 Ranger. I don't know if it will match the body lines perfect, but it will match better than the cap I have on it now.

I know.

It's gonna cost me about 40 to get it, 25 for the cap and I'm giving my brother 15 for gas because I can't really pick it up with the Zx2. What a steal!

Here's my 25 dollar cap on my brothers Edge. We had to use his truck to take it home. It sits about an inch high because the guy put 1"x2" boards all around it so it would clear his wife's roll bar. About 10 wood screws and it's back down to normal height.

I got an AMAZING deal on it. It's a real Ford cap from a 1991 Ranger, and it's light. Probably plastic or some thin fiberglass type stuff. The only issues I see is the struts don't hold (easy fix) and it has two cracks in it. Here's the bigger one.

Those I'm going to patch up with either some boat stuff, or just slap some JB weld on it. JB weld fixes everything.

I'll probably leave it here until the snow melts, then I'll back up the ranger to more level ground and swap caps. If I took the clamps off the one on it now it would slide right off backwards.

And how my Ranger sits... another 18 months and he's back on the road. Lots of time left to fix it up.

Picked up some permapoxy plastic weld to fix up those cracks. I'll probably get around to it once all this snow melts.

I'll slather it on generously and then sand it down later so it's smooth to hide the patch better. Then I'll just spray paint it to cover it up some more.

Nothnig like a patch job to do the job.

Cool, that is very similar to the topper I have on my '96. I am still unsure if I like having a topper at all.

I see you're still rollin' on the Chrysler wheels... lol... if you're ever in the area I will GIVE you a set of Explorer sawblade wheels :thefinger:

Are you going to leave it Black? If so fix the cracks and by some roll on herculiner and rhino line the topper.

I like having one for camping and in the winter to keep gear clean and whatnot. And those are just my winter rims, I have another pair for the front but I didn't drive the truck this winter so I never put them on. I had someone give me a free pair of brand new studded snows, but they were 16's so I went junkyard hoppin' and found those. Once I get around to it I'm going to put my American Racing rims back on, and when I get the money I'll pick up some black soft 8's.

As for being in the area, probably never going to happen. Although it would be cool to go to a state with my name and see some buffalo's and whatnot.

Yeah I'm gonna leave it black, but I'm just gonna spray the patches with some left over paint I have to make it match.

Got the new cap put on my truck.

I like it so far. Only problem is the door hits my bed liner so it won't close all the way if the cap is pushed forward to the right spot. I am going to trim it down (once I figure out how) so that it will fit flush and I can move it back where it belongs. I've also still gotta fix the struts on it and the cracks. It could use a little paint touch-up in a few spots as well.

And damn my truck looks ugly with the valance off. I'll be picking up a new bumper/valance in the end of May. Then I'll just have to paint it black and I'll be set. Plus it would help if the rims were the same. The ones that should be on it are in the bed, since I had expected to drive it in the winter and put my snows on.

SUMMERS HERE.

Starting back up on the truck! Wish me luck.

Right now on the to-do list is coast her back onto the front lawn, and start patching that oil pan. Damn thing's gonna be a pain in the ass, I'm going to have my neighbor (German-Trained Master Mechanic) take a look at it and tell me if it's salvageable. If not I'll be moving the truck to the top of the hill by the shed and pulling the motor. I already cleared the brush there just in-case.

Next will be getting her running again. I think a relay went last time I tried to start it, my father was monkeying around in it and took my battery out, then loosely tightened the terminals. I'll be picking up new terminals soon and putting those on (ones broken anyway) and figuring out that relay. If I have to move it to the hill that will be first on the list of course.

After that the bed needs to come off so I can get to the gas tank. The seal on the filler neck is leaking gas and I need that fixed, especially since it isn't driven much because the gas is just evaporating. While I have the bed off I will also be replacing the rear axle with either a 7.5 in 4.10 gears or an 8.8 in 4.10 if I can find it.

Somewhere in the middle there I need to pick up a front bumper, since the old one is toast from my collision with the Grand Prix. Dented in and the paint came off to reveal that I still have tons of rust on it. I don't like the look of no-valance anyway.
