Project Guinea Pig

I use a hammer, a punch and a pry bar.
I've tried heat, setting the bushings on fire and a BFH. They're mostly cut off down to nubs. I kinda think the next logical step is to totally burn the bushings out. I'm not reusing them, obviously. lol. My neighbors r gonna love me. :thefinger:

Burn em out, usually the easiest way...

Oh damn yeah burn'em

Finally said screw it and chucked the springs out. Kept the AAL's though. I'll get better ones as donors for the Bronco.
Sometimes its just easier to start from scratch.

Lol get some chevy leafs! I'm runnin 6" lift leafs with a spring taken out and a 2" aal in it. Flexes great and rides smooth.

Hey Rowdy, did the chevy leaves move your axle forward? On some other builds I've seen guys say the axle wasn't centered after the chevy swap.
Just trying to figure out if the perches should be adjusted as I go.
Stangman92, for example had his axle move forward. On post 7 of his build: "I decided that since the front was mostly custom, why not do the same for the back, Yep Chevy 63" spings, didnt quite center the rear tire like id hoped they would, After this pic i shimed up the rear a little more. I had to shim them up a little (No stacked blocks) So that it sits exactly level when measured by the fenderwells."

No mine stayed centered. I think the difference is how far they moved the front hanger. It was exactly 6" that I moved mine.

Its been a long time since I had any extra money to throw at this mess. I've been pretty broke - out of work for several months. It sucks and totally takes the momentum out of anything I want to do.
That said, I should have a few bucks back soon from a tax return. Not much and I'm still out of work.
I'm looking at a few things for the guinea pig. There is no rear suspension right now, not even brackets.

So I'm looking at getting spring hangers and springs. It might not end up being Chevy springs. That remains to be seen. I need it to roll again as a bare minimum.

A side note to this. I've been shopping pretty exclusively at "Pick n pull" Auto parts but they've closed to the public as of 05.04.15. All the BC stores, possibly all of them. Idk why.
Next decent wrecking yard is way the hell up the valley in Chilliwack. Its almost an hours drive. This isn't helping things at all.

There's one in Abby south of hwy1 on Sumas I think. Going to PAP tomorrow. :-)

Empire? Their search feature is down. I have no way of knowing if they have what I need.
Pick-a-part has that + a price list and compared to where I used to go - they're still in business. lol
