project family wheeler. chop top 1 ton explorer.

I will probably end up with a 205 behind the 1356, duffy is suposed to have a kit out soon for the 1356/205 combo. Which should be a real nice setup

I am going with the 205 so I don't have a chain to worry about, I like the idea of gear driven. Also the 1356 is really wide and might be hard to fit in your frame, but it has a good low range so it might be worth it considering the gear you are using.

Yea it's going to be a tight fit, worse comes to worse and I can't make it work I'll go ahead and cut the 56 and find me a 205 for a doubler.

If I only had the money for an atlas!

Tight fit, as in you will have to notch the frame and grind some "extra" aluminum off the case, but it will fit.

Which I can both do pretty easy. Just need to find a 435 so I can get a feel for where everything is gunna be.

You should think about a 1356/20 combo, I got mine in at just over 17" in length to the rear yoke, 15" to the back of the rear case. With this setup I don't have to make changes to the fuel tank...Ratios are 2.72, 2.48, and 6.41, if thats not enough, LoMax makes a 3.15 kit for the 20, which will give you 8.57...With those kind of numbers you can run a 355 or 373 in the axles for your on road driving duties :icon_thumby:

Actually, you can make the 56 fit without frame mods, just move the trans mount to the passenger side about 1.5", this is what I was going to do but didn't have a driveshaft shop around me at the time, so I went with a different case temporarily

Well like I said I don't have any of it yet so I can still change up the plans depending on what I can find at the right prices

If you want a 20, let me know, I know a guy down here that has a few and he'll let em go for a decent price...Or I'll sell ya mine...

I think $100, but might be a little less, I got to call him and ask...

Good news, the expo is in the garage. Wasn't an easy process and I deffinantly rigged it togather to say the least lol. But it's in there now that's all that matters.

Will be starting on the top next week.

I'll put some pics up in a little.

and then i got ancy and decided i was getting this bitch inside.

got the car skates under the front and strapped them down then the rear all i could find that was big enough to set the weight on was my dads old massive engine stand. used to hold fully dressed big blocks for months on end so i knew it was stout enough to hold the weight. jacked it up slid it under strapped it in and hooked the winch up.
