Problems with my '88 Bronco II (any help/insight greatly appreciated)

Good news, (I think)

Tapped the starter with a hammer a few times lightly today and the truck started right up..

So I ook it off again to see that it was corodded all around the wire and dirt was all in there and it was pretty dirty. I missed it the first time because I didn't have enough light. Got a lot of gunk from around and cleaned it up a bit and put it back on, started the truck about 6 times during the day and every time it started right up.

I had gotten the starter tested and it tested good. So I'm thinking it was the wiring and the corrosion?
