i have a 1988 ranger 2.9l 4wd and when i have it running and i give it gas it will run and then stop and then run and stop like its running out of gas but i know its not running out of gas and if i dont hold the gas pedal down it stalls out. what could be the problem

Hi! Welcome to TRS. << greetings and manners ROCK!

Lots of things... I would swap the fuel filter first, then check the pressure on the fuel rail. Could also be a big vacuum leak...

could be a bad battery cable. had something similar in my 88.
