I've read that many other Ranger owners have had similar problems with their trucks having a very annoying squeal. I went out today and bought a new belt, new Idle and new Belt Tensioner for it and plan on putting them on tomorrow. Hopefully this fixes it, right now it sounds like a damn flock of birds under my hood. And I'm curious, should a Belt Tensioner look like the Idle pulley, because the one I have looks almost identical to it. I think the guy sold me the wrong part.
But I was just wondering if this could be anything else besides those, in case this doesn't work. I've tried the soap trick and it worked temporarily. I'm confused because I sprayed the Idle pulley with some WD40 and the squeak slowly went away, then I waited for it to come back and sprayed the AC pulley (because it sounded like it could be it too) and it made it go away as well. I don't know if it should make a difference, but when I turn on my AC in the truck it doesn't stop or make it worse, it makes no difference?
It all originally started when it rained outside, I have even had the belt come off a couple times while it was raining. It's an extremely annoying problem.
