I Just took out my starter, Tested it, Put all the wires back in, and now when i start the truck, I hear grinding underneath...

Is my flywheel grinding with my starter?

Is my Starter still running?

Is Anything thing else im not thinking of happening?

Its got the wierdest engine in it... 4cyl With 8 Plugs... I dont like this truck...

I like my 97 Ranger Better. :P

All Ford 2.3 Lima engines had 8 plugs from 89 up. 8 plugs are not a problem.

As for your starter, if it was working ok before you worked on it, and it doesn't now, you did something wrong. Double check your work, and make sure the starter is lined up properly. It fits inside the aluminum dust cover.:)shady

:annoyed: I'm rather offended.:D

My 2.3 was the most reliable truck I have ever driven, except that it was pretty gutless(which is why she's getting a 302).

Make sure you got the wires back in the right spot and that you bolted it correctly back into the bellhousing. Otherwise, it should work.

Yeah, It has no balls...

I double checked all my work, The starter is good, Im not sure on my solenoid though.

how to do i tell a screwed solenoid?

i was gonna say sylenoid.
take a set of booster cables, touch the positive on the battery and the other end of the positive on the sylenoid. she should turn over, if nothing happens, you could have a ground wire off somewhere, if she turns over, your sylenoid is good
i think thats the right way maybe its backwards lol

Oh, No, It turns over fine, Its just when it does, It grinds the hell out of my gear.

Like the Bendix isnt letting go. :icon_confused:

but what i stated was how to determine wether your sylenoid is good or not

Ok so it's grinding after it's started. Need to check and make sure you're not getting power to it after it's started, if you aren't replace the starter. If I am understanding correctly. If it grinds while cranking, the the teeth on the starter or flywheel are no good, or the starter is somehow out of alingment, if it was a gm you'd need shims.
