What did you guys pay for your 8.8s? I have called around to just about every salvage yard within 3 hours or so of me and the cheapest one I could find was $350. Some were asking $500, 600, and 650. I was curious as to what some of you guys paid because i've seen them for sale on here for $125-150 on here before.

i paid $300 for mine , but you know what happened to that , make sure if you buy it that it is either all original , or was rebuilt and being sold by a reputable member on here

I wouldn’t spend more than $60 on an 8.8, keep your eye on craigslist. for $300-$600 around here you can buy a donor truck...:icon_thumby:

Toms,
Best thing to do is look on car-part.com. I got my 4.10 open for $380 with less than 20K miles on it. $60 for a complete rear end would scare the hell out of me, don't mean to offend anyone. Be careful the axles themselves are not bent, happens a lot with those coming out of 4x4, sliding into something. Yard here checks for them things.

Well I have a 7.5 in there now so I could just keep my axle shafts and sell the guts or what have you out of it. I called a local 4x4 shop and one of the guys there had an 8.8 he would sell me for $350. I have no idea how many miles or what have you but I would replace axle seals and what not. That, and swap my brakes over since everything is about brand new. Do you think it would be an asshole move to offer him $300?

i picked up an 8.8 and one piece drive shaft from a 2006 ranger for $280 cdn.

That's kind of why I gave a reference and price to what you can buy with under 20,000 miles on it. All the interanls sure ought to be in good shape. Just move your new brakes over. I'd sure check around for condition and gear ratio and hopefully not have to worry about seals and such.

Gary's U Pull It down in Binghamton has axles for 40 or so I think. Not too sure though, they messed around their price sheets. Probably too much of a drive for you though.

I was going to get one.. but the one I'm picking up today (hopefully) is already off. Saves me the work.

I got one I would let go for cheap but NC is a long ways away

Well i'm going to be getting some Yukon 4.56's to go in the 8.8 so i'm not too worried about the internals. Thanks for that link Mac, I didn't even think to check there. I found an 8.8 on there from an 00' with 87,000 miles on it for $250. The only thing is is that it's 2 1/2 hours away.

I want one from a ranger so it's bolt-in. I'm going to call the place on monday.

Well, I picked up an 8.8 today for $266! Now it's time for some gears and lockers!:yahoo::icon_cheers:

Thanks for the site Mac!

Been looking for a disk brake 8.8 for a while now and CL hasn't given me anything except drum brake axles for like $500.

I found some 20 miles from me for $250!:icon_cheers:
