Hi guys. I am one for factory parts only and would like some information on how to tell the base head unit from a premium head unit in the Ranger applications mainly 1998-2003. I have found the Explorer identification numbers for those head units but can not tell which is which on the Rangers.
I just recently swapped my 1998 AM/FM/CD head unit for a premium 2000 Explorer AM/FM/cassette/CD head unit with the built in amp and the sound quality is that much better still using factory Ranger base audio speakers. I get a lot of Rangers for Junk so I dont want to toss aside a premium head unit from one of them.
