Pre-RBV B-Series

I wouldn't mind dropping an old rotary engine in mine if I were at all familiar with them. I even spotted a rotary engine in a mostly gutted car when I went to Pick n Pull.

I also like the idea of keeping the simple 4 banger and just making it the best DD it could be.

Wait, you got 2 RX-7's for free? Why doesn't crap like that happen to me lol.

LOL. Yeah, I bought 1 for $500, and ended up with 2 more for free. The last one was actually a much sought after GSL-SE that had been converted to carb. I snagged the battery out of the truck, fired it up, and drove it onto the trailer. It belonged to a freind who was/is in the military, and he was getting transfered. This car didn't run very well, and he was more concerned with getting his 94 RX7 back home, since he had just dropped ~$20K into it over the last couple years.
He hated to get rid of the 84, but he called asking me to come get it so he didn't have to send it to a salvage. He had less than a week of notice on the transfer, so time was not on his side. He knew I would be able to figure out what was wrong with it, and 5-6 other guys had already tried. Turned out the wires between the ignition modules and the magnetic pickups in the dist were reversed, which really made it run poorly. After swapping those wires around, it would really jump to attention when I opened that Edelbrock 600 to WOT.
My son is likely going to end up with it, since he wants it instead of the B2300 I bought for him.

If the 2.3L dies, I might consider doing a 13B swap in this truck, just for giggles. I'd complete the package by having custom side badges made to read "B1300", since the 13B rotary is *only* a 1.3L......

They resemble a scaled down ford 9", front dropout carrier and all. The RX7 uses a similar axle, but has lower gearing and a locking diff. No clue if the RX7 carrier or locker can be swapped, since that would likely be your next question..... Plus, they are getting hard to find with the LSD, since the early Miata guys scarfed up most of them.
Just FYI. The rotary trucks had gearing in 4.88-5.13 range, gassers were in the mid 3 and low 4 range. Common B2000/5speed ratio was around 3.65, I believe my 4 speed had 3.35 gears.
