I don't know where you grew up or how your family life was growing up, but I will say that the vast majority of Americans are not abused/ neglected as children to the extent of what happened here. I grew up and lived in a town 25 miles north of where this happened and my Wifes stepmother lives just 4 or 5 miles south of where this happened. Believe me, this is not Normal American child rearing...
I do tend to think that this whole family is screwed up from the grandparents on down. One kid being a f%$* up I can understand, but having both of your children as f%$* ups tells me they are part of the problem, and having two kids with two different dads in a 4 year time frame with neither of those dads present tells me a bit about the quality of the mother as well. New news now says that DCFS was contacted concerning abuse and after the murder they have removed the second child from her custody, and no the father did not get the child, DCFS did. That is a good indicator that her decision making process in who she chooses as a mate is flawed.
Still waiting on the rest of the story. I think she will be charged as an accomplice in this or at least a good case of neglect/ abuse.
