Alright, so far I have Dual CD770 deck and four Pioneer TS-A6872R three-way 6x8s. I am looking to get a little bass and am trying to decide if I should go with a separate amp and sub or if I should just get a simple Infinity Basslink or Bazooka tube or something like that. Thoughts? What are some decent powered subs? I don't need a ton of bass, just want to fill out the sound a bit. Looking to spend 100 bucks or less. Used of course for that price. Checking craigslist to see what I can find. Anybody know anything about the Kenwood powered subs? I found a used 10 inch that I could get for 40 bucks.

i have no experience with powered subs, but buying used isn't always the best idea...

for all you know the amp/sub could be slightly or all the way blown, electronics could be messed up internally, etc etc.

splurge and buy new.... powered subs are more for people who don't have alot of space or don't want to use up alot of space... and who don't need/want alot of sound. a good powered 10 or 12 will fill in your music nicely.

or even if you want two powered 8 inch subs for each side of your cab, that would fill in really nice as well.

research everything before you get into it, and good luck.

Oh trust me, I always research everything before I buy... I know why people use powered subs. And I know that buying used isn't always the best idea. BUT, I am a 23 year old kid with a wife, mortgage, son, and a baby on the way. "Splurging and buying new" aren't exaclty an option for me at this stage of life ya know what I mean? I know that a powered sub isn't probably going to be the best option, but for now it will be the most cost effective and should be plenty of power as I am not looking to blow the doors off. I am thinking probably a 10" to save myself space in case I ever need to carry passengers still.

honestly, if i was in your position, buying car audio would be the last thing on my list....

not being an asshole, just my $0.02...

look around for a good deal, and when you find one buy it. the deal you mentioned seems pretty good.

Haha! I wouldn't have thought you were being an a-hole. But why would you say that car audio would be the last thing on your list? I do have to say that you don't know my financial situation. I have some extra money, just not a ton to go blow on 400 bucks worth of car audio. Not being a jerk either, just stating some more facts. We just got our first time homebuyer's refund from the government so we are spending a small amount on fun stuff and the rest is going to bills and savings. So I guess if I REALLY wanted to, I could go buy any sytem I wanted to if you looked at it like that. Just trying to get the best deal I can and keep it as inexpensive as I can. I think that is a reasonable thing and so does my wife, so I personally don't have a problem spending a small amount on it. Thanks for the thoughts though. Hope you can understand my point of view as well.
