I have a 1990 bronco II and I just replaced the Gear in my passenger side power window motor. When i pug the motor in while holding it in my hands it operates in both directions. When i install it I press the up button and it makes the window go down and when i press the down button it acts like its shorting out with the lights dimming. I took it back out and once again it works correctly in my hands outside of the door. I am confused as what could be wrong. any help would be appreciated.:icon_confused:

Is the gear installed correctly?

Is the window trying to go up but maybe there's just too much resistance (drag) for the motor to push the window up?

I also ended up changing polarity of the wires to get the motor to turn in the correct direction. After being stumped on this for awhile I finally just bought a new motor. When i hooked it up right off the bat it was turning in the wrong direction. This suprised me since I had to change the wires already. I changed the wires back to their correct positions and now the motor is working correctly. I'm not sure what I did but somehow when I took the motor apart it made it reverse but all is good now. finally lol

Cool, glad to hear you got it working :icon_thumby:
