Sorry, I'm pretty sure it's in here someplace, have seen it before but just can't find it again. I think I saw someone said that the gen 1 BII and Ranger were already wired up for power windows even without them. Is this true? Have an 88 BII XL wanting to put in power. Also, anyone know if gen II doors (89-90) doors will bolt up to the 88? Thanks.

i do believe the wiring is there for the windows. you need to install relays, fuses, and switches....and of coarse the window motors themselves.

i also think that gen 1's and 2's use the same doors..it was the front clip that was changed.

I'm pretty sure that they're not completely prewired. Open the door and look for a harness coming out of the front of the door and running forward into the fender gap. I simply don't recall an early Ranger or BII having factory-wired doors without the power accessories being present. While the wiring is likely not there, the fuse box will have an empty slot for a 20A circuit breaker, for power windows.

there is a harness that runs from the doors up through the front fenders and plugs into a diffrent headlight harness. then you have to add a fuse and you are done. it took me about an hour to do and i pulled the front fenders.

great. thanks for the replies. Will probably take a look around in there this weekend (if I dont get working on changing the heads then, agh). Thanks!

bought both doors with pwr windows off a 87 bII for $60 at a yard.
pulled the complete harness from door to door.even got them in white (got lucky).
haynes manual was kind of a pita to get the wire colors i needed to find at the headlights so i got the power from another switched source.
works great.
