Power steering has been making some noise on the fixer upper I've been working on. I grabbed a different pump/hardware at the junk yard and it didn't change a thing. I realize that it could also be bad, but I would have thought it wouldn't have been exactly the same.

While bleeding it, I was/would get some tiny air bubbles after I got the majority of the system bled. All the fittings were tight and didn't appear to be leaking underneath and than I noticed the cooler must have a tiny leak as it's barely dripping when it's running.

Would that tiny air leak be enough to cause the noise in the system. I've only driven this thing maybe 50 miles since the head work and the power steering reservoir was kinda frothy after the drive.

Thanks

If you got a lot of air in it you may need to drive it for a while. Also, these pumps are never silent. They all make some noise, most of us have just gotten so used to hearing it we don't notice it anymore.

It's more than a little loud and is pretty annoying the way it is.

I'll throw another 20-25.00 bucks at it and put a new cooler on it.

Mines is abnormally loud. Every ranger I had made ps noise. It's a ford thing I guess lol.

When the pump starts whirring, I top it off from the qt of dex-merc lying by the battery of the Rat. It uses a little here and there. :D

Thought I'd throw this in:
