I know they sell power steering pump relocation brackets, but I had no use for one seeing as everything should fit.

Well................. I went to dry-mount the pump assembly on the motor, and it seems the bottom knub of the bracket hits the steering box. I also noticed that there isn't a whole lot of room for the return line part of the pump, that also is close to the steering box.

Do I need one of those re-location brackets, or can I grind the knub down and hope for the best?

What accessory brackets are you using ? The return line on mine sits against the steering box but has never been an issue. 88 Crown Vic setup

Sorry. 302 using brackets from an '89 F-150.

I am using F-150 brackets also, i had to knotch the bracket to clear the steering box and i am also using F-150 mounts with some adapter plates that i built, they raise everything just enough to clear. My 86 ranger had crown vic brackets and everything cleared and sat just a touch lower than my current mounts but it also had manual steering. I like the F-150 brackest cause all the accessories are in the same location as on the 2.3l that i took out.

Notching is what I'm thinking too. It hits one of the bolt heads and a corner of the box.

How was the clearance for the smaller return line nipple? Close or not?

i used all the stock brackets on my 302 off a mustang in my ranger. I just took off the smog pump and ran with a smaller belt..

The pump I have points straight down into the steering box, Im not at the point to start hooking stuff up but it might just work, or im going to have to find a pump that comes out in a different spot. I dont think this set up would work at all with the mounts i was going to use from my 86 ranger, i made some just allittle taller.

I'm looking at mine and I think I might just make it too. Looks to be around a 1/4" of clearance, maybe.

By the way, where are you in Minnesota? If you're close to where I live(Hibbing area), we should meet up and check out each others trucks.

just a thought:icon_twisted:----some p/s pump assemblies can be loosened & rotated in the housing so the fittings will be in a better location

i use 91 f150, close, but no clearance problems,(smog pump removed) and use the f150 lines to hook it up to the steering box
