so so i blew the power steering hose the other day. so i replaced it with a autozone special. but i wasn't aware it was missing an o-ring. so i went back and got the o-ring off a new hose that they had in stock. and now i'm having leaks at the other end. where the pressure hose connects to the gear box. its a flare fitting and as far as i can see there isn't an o-ring. any ideas?

the guy at checkers said i needed a "power steering seal kit" for a whole 2 dollars and change. but they are to big. i'm outta options and sick of my filty dana and always having a mess on the driveway

anybody? think i might get some universal o rings and just give it a try

did you find a fix? i replace the line as well, and it's seeping out of the metal fitting on that connects to the gear box too.

i'm on the way to the parts store now. i'll post back on here in bout an hour.

thanks for the motivation!!! haha

go team go! lol
yeah i just changed mine out two days ago. it's 3 times louder than before. I put regular p/s fuild in it. heard i need atf, hopefully that will do the fix, then i'll worry about that slow leak.

Sounds like you either have dirt/junk in the steering box side of the flare, or the flare itself is just poor. Make sure it's nice and clean.

Pete

i quadrupole checked dirt in the fitting, and it still leaked bad. the pump would run dry in about two days. but with a 7mm ID and 11mm OD o ring it seems to have quit.

next time i replace a hose, it won't be from autozone. i assume the flare wasn't quite right.

either way the o ring works. now for how long IDK. i'll report back if anything else happens
