While out on errands the other day, I managed to hit a piece of metal in the road. It managed to put a gash in my power steering hose. This hose runs from the left side of the pump down to a hub with 2 other fittings on it. My question is if I can cut the hose, fit a piece of tubing inside, and clamp each end with hose clamps, would it function properly or should I just replace the hose?

IMHO I would replace the entire hose. You proably can do a temp repair but would but would fix it right for the long run

I had to replace mine it was a pain. Soak it with liquad wrench. I think you want to use a box wrench can't remember the size. I am sure you can do your temp fix just plan on fixing it right in the near future. I can't rember if I got channel locks in there or maybe vise grips. You can always sawsall it off flush and use a socket to take it off

i would just replace it. if its the same as mine, the hose should cost like $12 and be available at any auto part store. its kinda a pain to replace but its worth it to do it right.

Thanks again for help. I'll try it and see what happens. If it only would stop raining long enough for me to try. LOL!!!

I replaced the PS return line today on my 97' only cost about 14.00 at Napa and was a simple install...i tried to fix it the way you were talkin about in your original post about a year ago..it held up for about a year but eventually it just needed replaced.
