I have a 92 Ranger 4x4, 4.0l ext cab and I am having issues with the power steering. It will work great, just like normal for a while, then one day I will go to drive it and there is no power steering, no assist at all. I can turn off the engine, jerk the steering wheel back and forth, start it up again and it will work just fine.
The fluid level is good, I have checked that several times and the pump was replaced sometime in the past as it is "rebuilt Blue".
I don't know if I am looking at a pump issue, or gear issue. How do I figure out what to replace, prefer not to do both due to $$$$.
