The power steering bracket on my 1983 2.3L is broken. It also has the idler pulley and alternator mount on it. On mine, the idler is stationary and the alternator swings on a pivot to manually set belt tension. I'm having trouble finding this exact bracket, but there are lots of the newer style available with the automatic tensioner. Has anybody else run into this? Would the newer one bolt up without issue?

I believe you can use any of the brackets up to '92 but they switched to serpentine in '87 I think... that would make a difference on the idler pulley... If you switched crank pulleys you could switch to serpentine if that is easier to find as well.

It is a serpentine belt, just no automatic tensioner. There is a separate v-belt for the smog pump, and a narrow separate serpentine style belt for the AC compressor. Up to this point, I'd never seen a serpentine belt without an automatic tensioner. I thought it was weird; it doesn't look cobbled together, either, so I think it came this way from the factory.
