power inverter question

how long can i run a 1000w/2000w max power inverter with my engine running before it drains my battery?

Ummm till you run out of gas? The alternator will have no problem keeping up with that.

alright good just making sure it wont strain the alternator

also, if it's a decent inverter, it will sense the battery voltage and shut down before draining your battery so much it won't start your truck.

idk what your running, but i can run a tv and my xbox off a 400w power converter.

how big of an inverter would i need to power an eletric air compresser from my garage?

4,000 watt surge, 2,000 watt continuous... at least. and that's for a really small compressor. iirc, it's about 800 watts/hp for those electric motors. i have a 1750 watt continuous/2000 watt surge gas generator and it won't handle the surge when i plug in my 2 1/2 hp compressor.
