My 01 Ranger XLT has developed an issue with the power door locks. It acts like someone is playing with the key FOB. The doors will lock, the horn will chirp and the parking lights will flash as when the alarm is set. It will do this periodically on it's own, day or night. Any ideas?

I had a very similar issue on my '01 (all the same symptoms plus unlocked when you closed the door)... It was chafed wires inside the rubber boot between the cab and door.

Thanks for the reply. I will check that and post my findings.

Ya know... not saying I've seen this on a Ranger but I have seen water intrusion on a door lock switch do similar things. It could also be the switch is worn out and causing lock activation. You might try just disconnecting the door lock switches... one at a time... and see if it stops acting up.
