But I'm going to post it here, too.

I own a 1990 Ranger XLT, and I'm planning a 302 swap. I will be stopping in for advice, help, and information until I get it all done.

BTW, does anyone know where I can find a Ranger 8.8" rear axle and a Dana 30 or 44 front axle out of a Jeep?

How about a 302 install kit for the engine mounts?

Oh, and a Mazda M5R2 5-speed transmission with a B-W 1356 T-Case?

At some point, I'm also going to need a bigger radiator, but that's all going to have to wait for the time being...no money right now.

Anyway, hope you guys (and gals?) can help me out, unlike the last Ranger forum I was on where they treated me like I should already know everything.

Just a little hint, I am on page 69 of 116 pages of this "v8 conversions" section of the forums and while it is tedious I have gleaned a lot of information that you won't get by just posting a question. It's just to unrealistic for everyone else here to know what you really want for info. You may not even know what you need to know. :P

I can see that this forum is going to be MUCH more helpful than the last Ranger forum I was on... Not...

Are you this impatient on the other boards too? Give it time. There are plenty of people willing to help.... unless you come in like a bull in a China cabinet.

Besides, you said you don't have any money right now. You have time.

It's not the impatience issue, it's the "look for yourself...I did" issue. It was the same thing over there, and it's the same thing that I've gotten from every person I've talked to about this project.

Let me dissect this for you, and show you how 5 minutes of searching for yourself can be very beneficial.

That advice is given because of one simple fact: If you are not willing to do some research and reading, then you will not have the dedication to follow thru and finish a swap to completion. It sort of like "tough love" For every swap started, half I'll bet are never completed, no one here wants to see you end up with a Ranger on blocks in the carport or the front yard because you lacked the dedication to follow thru and take the initiative at the start. All here have done these things, I spent a full year I'll bet doing research before I ever turned a wrench. And even afterwards, I made lots of mistakes in part selection until I found what I wanted and it ended up the way I wanted it to happen. There WILL be bumps in the road to a successful swap, the research is only the first. There's several "sticky" threads at the top of the V8 swap forum list. In there, you will find the answers to most of your questions, without the need to ask. :icon_idea: Good luck grasshopper........................

If I had the time I would make a bar chart that showed the number of duplicate posts asking about motor mounts, radiators, carbs vs EFI, etc. I think about 2/3rds of the posts are worthless; the other 1/3 is priceless. Lots of people just coming on the sight saying "Help Me".

Since when is that what forums aren't for?

That's exactly what forums are for... providing you with the knowledge needed to accomplish what you need to do. Forums are also databases of information for those willing to dedicate a few minutes to searching and reading. Typically people on forums don't bother answering the same old questions every day for those who choose not to search first. Sounds to me that you need to join www.doitforme.com/forums
