Hey folks. I own a 2009 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0L An intermitten problem keeps croping up and its driving me nuts. I'll be driving along with no problems at all when all the sudden the truck loses all power for a split second....almost like a mis fire. Its like on....off...on again. Sometimes its for a split second. Sometimes its a bit longer....like a second or so. It happens somewhat infrequently but its happening more and more now.

If my fuel pump was failing, wouldn't that thow a check engine code? I've replaced the fuel filter but that didn't help. New air filter as well.

Any thoughts?

Not knowing more it sounds like it could be bad gas or a loose electrical connection somewhere.

Get a obd reader and check for a pending code right after this happens. If the problem persist long enough then check for fuel/spark

I know this sounds trivial, but it could also be something as easy as a fuel filter. Even clogged lines. I'd bank on the bad gas theory. Try putter a can of Seafoam in a full tank and see if it clears up afterwards.

Its a 2009, so its probably not anything like a vacuum leak.
