I replaced the clutch a few months ago with a LUK set and it feels like it isn't catching like it's supposed to. When engaging, it seems to begin catch pretty high, about 1-2" before I am off the pedal. I am thinking that it is a clutch master cylinder (I hope) because I pressed on the pedal while it was disconnected from the slave. Would that cause my problem?

Bleeding the clutch only helps for the first few pumps of the pedal.

thats good for engagement, about where mine is and has been for 6 months. you don't want it to engage right off the floor.

It's my first manual vehicle, so I don't really know what to expect from a new clutch. When I finished the job and drove out of the garage, it caught sooner.

EVERY Ranger ever produced has a high clutch pedal, from the day you install it until the day it grinds the rivets into the flywheel. Totally normal.

the only thing that might make you feel better is bleed the slave again and bleed the master too and you will be g2g

As soon as you put the clutch in they always seem to grab a little closer to the floor, after a few miles though it works its way back to the top where it should be.

You can try to remove the master cylinder from the firewall and turn it upside down to try to bleed it better.

I just did a manual swap, properly bled everything (everything is new also) and the clutch starts grabbing maybe 1" off the floor, and is fully engaged a good bit before I let off the pedal.

Sounds normal to me. The early clutches catch right away when new and then start grabbing really high.

The 10" isn't as bad about it.
