Im going to be getting a 8.8 Possi from a 94 Ranger is a possi the same as having a locker or is a locker better??

Posi is a "limited slip". After a preset amount of 1 side spinning the other side will engage so that both rear tires drive.

The downside is that there has to be some friction on the slipping tire or it won't engage. For example, if you have 1 rear wheel in the air, the posi won't work. This is why it is sometimes necessary to partially engage the parking brake to get a posi to lock.

A locker is far superior in that when 1 tire spins, it locks solid, both tires drive regardless of friction. 1 wheel in the air and the other will keep on driving.

Very few vehicles come from the factory with a real locker, and even then most are electronic so that they can be disabled for street use.

Driving on the street with a locker in the rain can be a pulse-quickening experience.

Im very pleased with the trail performance of my Detroit Truetrac limited slip. It uses helical gears instead of internal clutches and is on the expensive end but for a street driven truck with a manual trans its perfect. Im locking the front end soon:headbang:
