i had to replace my rear-end about a month or so ago, and recently ive noticed a sort of popping noise at low speeds usually in 2nd gear, they are quite frequent noise and does not seem to be affecting anything but im not sure what it could be, it was a used rear end that was put in place... something in the drive shaft maybe? or is it the rear end itself? any ideas? thanks.

A few years ago, there was a TSB about lubing the slip joint on the drive shaft. Don't know if that applies to you. If it is from the rear end you should pull the differential cover to find out if teeth are missing on the ring or pinion. Is there good gear oil in the rear end?

i imagine they filled it with synthetic oil when it was replaced. i just read a thread and could it be the the shock? do they pop/clack when they go bad?

Any chance it's a limited slip differential that was put in there, and maybe forgot the friction modifier? Is so, it may be the clutches you are hearing.
